Masters of
Disaster
Find a K-8 curriculum, aligned to national education standards
supplements lessons teachers are already
teaching and provides
students with information to help them prepare for disasters and
stay safe during and after a disaster in their home, school, or
community.
-
Facing
Fear
This was developed to
help children express their feelings and cope in uncertain times.
It is specifically
tailored for lower elementary (K-2), upper elementary (3-5),
middle school (6-8) and high school (9-12) classes. There are
twelve lesson plans for each of four age groups. The plans are
arranged in three chapters:
Feelings,
Facts and Perspectives,
and
Future. The student
and family oriented
activities engage
students in learning and offer families comfort, knowledge and
disaster preparedness skills.
-
In
the Aftermath
This series now also
helps students understand and cope with the effects of disasters
to help them recover. As above, the K-12 curriculum has these
chapters for each of four grade levels:
Life,
Loss and Grief; Take Care of Yourself; Reach Out to Others;
and
Build Back Better.
