Many things need to be considered when moving mental health and chemical dependency services from a Regional Treatment Center (RTC) into a community-based setting.  The following documents reflect what we’ve learned from the closure of Moose Lake RTC and current planning regarding the Willmar RTC.

Southwest/Central Minnesota Results Initiative Compact Council (SWCMNRICC): This Council is composed of 22 counties in Southwestern and Central Minnesota and representatives from the Department of Human Services who share a vision of providing Mental Health Services in the communities where consumers reside and work. Working diligently on the continuum of mental health services and housing, the Council's goals include:
  • Implementation of an outcomes-oriented approach to the services provided to adults with serious mental illness and serious and persistent mental health illness

  • Demonstrating evidence-based practices and principles that may serve as a paradigm for statewide changes in the way adult mental health services are delivered

  • Enhancing community-based approaches to the delivery of adult mental health safety net services

SWCMNRICC will remain active until that time when the required services and resources are in place to make the transition to community-based a successful reality.
