This section presents resources that suggest ways to manage change,

particularly for employees.

  • State of Minnesota Employee Assistance Program (EAP) web materials

  • "Managing Resistance to Change" State of Minnesota EAP document

  • “Making the Tough Decisions and Still Being Able to Sleep at Night”: This is a link to the Local Public Health Association (LPHA) statewide video conference training presented by Gretchen M. Stein, Ph.D., Certified Employee Assistance Director, President and CEO The Sand Creek Group.  This presentation identifies several groups of people to be concerned with at a time of reduction in workforce: the employee who is leaving, the personnel who are terminating the employees, and the survivors.

  • John P. Kotter is the Konosuke Matsushita Professor of Leadership at the Harvard Business School and a frequent speaker at top management meetings around the world.  Leaders often wonder why they accomplished less than they hoped in change efforts.  Kotter lists Eight Common Errors made in organizational change efforts and their consequences.  His Eight-Stage Change Framework is a roadmap to help leaders talk about transformation, change problems, and change strategies.
